OUR ARGUMENTS

The vast majority of opinion polls conducted since 1999 have found support for a republic. For this reason we think that Australia will probably become a republic unless the idea of having a resident Australian monarch is taken seriously by monarchists. Three-way opinion polls which include the option of having a resident monarch have found a relative majority of monarchists and a relative majority of Australians who do not want Australia to share a monarch with the United Kingdom. It is therefore clear that Australians indirectly said that they want a resident monarch.

WE ARE MORE MONARCHIST THAN STATUS QUO MONARCHISTS.

Unlike status quo monarchists, we want the Monarch of Australia to be the official Head of State instead of the Governor General. We want the Monarch to be Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Armed Forces instead of the Governor General. We want to increase the powers of the Monarch, although keeping them limited, by combining them with those of the Governor General. We also want to increase the number of monarchs in the world by having a resident Australian monarch. For these reasons we are more monarchist than status quo monarchists.
